the laundry room

The laundry room is part of the final addition to the house completed sometime in the 1970's, and if you don't count the tempermental flourescent light that goes on only when it bloody well feels like it, is functional:

Ugly, but functional. It won't take much time to paint, replace the floor, rearrange the room and add some shelving, but we'll save this project for a couple of weekends where we're sick of the huge projects that seem to take forever, and we need a hit of some instant gratification. In the mean time, it's fun to take bets on whether the light will actually come on when we flip the switch.

Update: Well, as of August 2004 the only thing we've done in here so far is to replace the aging flourescent light fixture:

Sadly, the running betting pool on whether the aging fluorescent light in there would actually turn on when we flipped the switch has ended. It's really all for the better though. Sorting whites from colors in the dark really sucks.
